Hillside Church is devoted to being a "house of prayer" where all things are done prayerfully and in dependence upon the Lord. We invite you to join us in the various kinds of prayer below in the hope of the promise of the Bible: "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea." (Habakkuk 2:14)
Wednesday Evenings Corporate Prayer
House of Prayer is a time of corporate prayer from from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
This Spirit-driven, pastor-led time of worship and intercession is focused on praying with hope for the needs of our church, community, and beyond. The prayers of those gathered are valued as the driving force behind the movement of the Holy Spirit throughout our ministries.
Hillside Prayer Room
A special room just outside the Worship Center is designated as a place devoted to passionately pursuing the purposes of God. Throughout the year Hillside offers seasons of 24/7 or 24-hour prayer with sign-ups for prayer times both day and night. The Prayer Room is also made available to individuals for concentrated times of prayer. Prayer resources are available on the slatwall by the Prayer Room door.
First Friday Prayer Call
On the first Friday of each month, you are invited to join Bob Bakke and the prayer team on a prayer call from 6:00 - 6:30 a.m. For a half-hour, we pray for our nation, for revival, and for the ministries of Hillside Church. You can join by calling 712-432-0232 and entering access code 672952#.
Each January, we invite Hillside attenders to fill out a prayer card - one per family - regarding a specific request they would like prayer for in the coming year. Those requests are printed on a card with a family picture. Throughout the year the cards are prayed over (in our House of Prayer, staff meetings, Elder meetings, and special seasons of prayer in the Prayer Room) and signed by those who prayed. At the end of the year, each family's card is mailed back to them, filled with the signatures of those who prayed for them during the year. It's an exciting reminder to them of God's faithfulness to answer prayers.
Prayer Initiatives Throughout the Year
Hillside observes several prayer initiatives and throughout the year invites the congregation
to join for corporate or individual prayer times. These include:
• Collegiate Day of Prayer
• Prayer for Muslims During Ramadan
• Seek God for the City (40 days from Ash Wednesday to Palm Sunday)
• Prayer for the Persecuted Church
• Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem
• Sanctity of Life Sunday
Mugshots Prayer Team
We provide prayer coverage for Mugshots Coffee Company, which is Hillside's ministry to our community. People have signed up for one day of each month to pray for Mugshots and its ministry, business, excellence in service, and other ways they represent Christ to the community. This is a one-year commitment, with the encouragement to "pray on site with insight" on one's designated day each month. To sign up for a day, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
July Prayer and Fasting
Each year Hillside Church participates in a month of prayer and fasting during July. We suggest participants join in a "Daniel Fast," which is primarily fruits and vegetables. We also provide prayer points regarding special ministry initiatives in which we desire to see God answer in extraordinary ways. During the month we sponsor a 24-hour prayer time in our prayer room, as well as end with a corporate prayer and worship time at the end of the month.
Urgent Prayer Requests Sent Through Group Email
On occasions when prayer needs have a sense of urgency, there is an email prayer group available. To submit a request, please contact the church office.
UNITE , One Cry, and RESET
We participate in and give leadership to large prayer events in our city and across the U.S., as the Lord guides us. We have given leadership to The Global Day of Prayer in the Twin Cities. More recently, we are involved in UNITE on the National Day of Prayer (www.unitendop.com) and OneCry (www.onecry.com), a new movement born in 2012 that seeks to mobilize and army of men and women who will seek God for revival and national spiritual awakening. Dr. Bob Bakke has produced radio specials that have aired on hundreds of radio stations nationwide.
