Small Groups

Definition: A group of 5-12 people with whom I meet regularly for discipleship, prayer, accountability, fun, authentic care and service.

Scripture: "They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts."
Acts 2:46b

We take small groups seriously. We don't want to be a church with small groups, we want to be a church of small groups.

We launched small groups in January 2008 and more than 60% of our congregation meeting in them in various suburbs.

The following are some of the studies our groups are using or have used:

  • The Prodigal God, by Tim Keller
  • Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis
  • When God's People Pray, by Jim Cymbala
  • That the World May Know, by Ray VanDerLaan
  • The Truth Project, by Del Tackett
  • Doing Life Together, by Purpose Driven Ministries
  • James, A Life Application Bible Study
  • Discussion of Current Sermon Series

Groups have served our community in several ways. Some examples include:

  • Battered Women's Shelters
  • "Feed My Starving Children", Ministries
  • Baby Shower for a Muslim mother-to-be
  • Food shelves and Community Free Meal Programs
