Event Spotlight: Redemption Art Experience by The CREATIVedge.

A group of Hillside creatives recently began meeting to dream about and create God-glorifying artwork together—they  call themselves "the CREATIVedge". They are preparing for their very first art show, "Redemption Art Experience," on Friday, April 24 from 6-9P! Hillside members Kris Dorn and Andy McGuire took some time to tell us more about the vision of the CREATIVedge and the upcoming art experience.

Q: What is the CREATIVedge and what is the vision behind it?

Kris: I believe the passions we are given are instilled within us by God.  All of us are unique and have a different view of the world. the CREATIVedge is an opportunity to discover God via different mediums.  It’s a chance for creatives to collaborate...and it's a chance to experience something that sparks a fire inside you that needs to be shared with others. We are a church that desires to reach beyond the edge of our property, so it is only fitting that we explore who God is through creativity.

Q: Can you tell us more about the Redemption Art Experience event on the 24th?

Kris: Come on April 24, sometime during the  6-9pm timeframe. There will be an opportunity for reflection, a visual art show centered on the theme of redemption, live music performances, and light refreshments.  It will be an open house style experience, so come and go as your schedule allows.

Q: What is something cool you have learned or experienced through CREATIVEedge?

Andy: There are a lot more creatives at Hillside than I’d realized! It’s been fun to meet them, hear from them, and find out about their art. I don’t think there are that many places for Christian artists to talk to one another and learn from one another. It’ll be cool to see if word spreads and we meet more and more.

Q: Why would you encourage people to attend the Redemption Art Experience on April 24?

Andy:  I think you’ll be surprised by the variety of mediums and subjects, as well as the talent, of some of your fellow Hillside Church members! You’ll be encouraged by seeing people use their gifts for God’s glory.

Kris: You should come if you are open to understanding our Creator, Savior, and Lord in a deeper way.  By exploring the true, the good, and the beautiful, God draws us closer and aligns our hearts to be on mission for Him. Your attendance would be a tremendous encouragement to the artists that are sharing their viewpoints. Please reach out to all you can and invite them to join you. 

"Redemption Art Experience" will happen on Friday, April 24, from 6-9P in the upper level classrooms at Hillside Church. All are welcome!
