Kids Juggling Day Camp 2026
This August, Hillside will hold its second ever Kids Juggling Day Camp, hosted by Hillside's juggling ministry, Journey Kids Juggling Co.
Journey's director, Nikki Wallace, tells us a little more about the camp and what to expect!
Q: What inspired the start of Journey Kids Juggling Summer Day camp?

Nikki:  Our Summer Day camp was designed as an extension of our school year after-school club, and also as an opportunity for kids who are new to juggling to come give it a try and experience our club!
Q: What will happen at Juggling camp?

Nikki: We will start our day with a morning meeting where we'll talk about the day, set some goals, and learn a lesson about God's character. Then we'll step into our morning! There will be lots of time devoted to juggling—kids who are brand new to it will learn how to juggle, and kids who can already juggling will have the chance to work on their juggling skills.  There will be instruction time as well as unstructured practice time. We'll also play fun games, eat snacks, see some really cool juggling demonstrations from our coaches, have fun getting to know one another, and laugh alot. Throughout the week we will also work on a brief "routine" to demonstrate to parents  during the last 15 minutes on the final day of camp.
Q: Who are the coaches?

Nikki: Along with myself, our coaches consist of a combination of high schoolers and young adults, including Hillsiders Isaac Nelson, Sarah Geissler, Will Wallace, and Brielle Wineberg, and several who attend other churches in the area. Most of our coaches grew up as a part of the (now-closed) program Jugheads Youth Juggling Company. They are all fantastic people who are not only great jugglers, but are great with the kids and have experienced how something as unique as juggling can be used to impact lives for Christ!

Q: What will the kids learn how to juggle?
Nikki: At Journey, we start by teaching kids how to juggle ten right-hand throws with three balls. From there, kids progress to juggling more balls, and various numbers of rings and clubs, as well. Kids also get to work with "auxillary" juggling props—the most popular of which is the diabolo.
Q: What is your desired outcome for Juggling Camp? What are you hoping kids will experience or come away with?

Nikki: My hope is that kids can come away having an absolute blast, with a better understanding of how great God is and how much He loves them.

Q: Why would you encourage parents to sign their kids up for Juggling Camp?

Nikki: When I signed my son up for a juggling club in 6th grade, I had no idea the impact it would make on him. There's something about juggling that can bring all kinds of kids together, break down walls, and help create a really cool community. It's also a great opportunity to build character, as you need to learn things like perseverance, patience and teamwork in order to juggle well! At Journey, we've started to see that kind of community emerge, and it's so much fun. We'd love to welcome more kids to come join in the fun and give it a try. This is also a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbors who aren't part of a church to come check it out!

Journey Kids Juggling Day Camp 2026 is schedule for Monday-Friday, August 10-14 from 9:00A-12:00P at Hillside Church.
