Ministry Spotlight: Headlight Restoration Ministry
Published September 30, 2026

Hillside is getting to launch a unique new ministry to serve our community: free headlight restorations! David Chua, director of this ministry, took a few minutes to tell us about it.
Q: How long have you been attending Hillside Church?
David: I started attending in 1998.
Q: What are a few ways you’ve been involved at Hillside over the years?
David: Currently, I am part of the Badminton Ministry and the Photography team. In the past, I also helped with the Wednesday Night Impact Class for 5th and 6th graders.
Q: What gave you the idea to start the Headlight Restoration ministry?
David: A few years ago, after fixing the headlights on my own vehicle, I noticed how many cars on the road had foggy, scratched headlights. I remembered how much it reduced visibility and created glare for oncoming traffic, and the idea to serve others in this way was born. Earlier this year, God gave me the final nudge to take the next step and start the ministry.
Q: What does the Headlight Restoration ministry do?
David: In line with Hillside's "Live on Mission" core value, our goal is to serve the community by helping drivers see better at night. It is a practical way to show God's love, bless fellow believers, and invite others to learn more about Him. We provide flyers for Hillsiders to place on windshields of cars with scratched and foggy headlights. The flyer explains the ministry and includes a link to sign up for a 30-to-45-minute restoration session.
Q: What are your hopes for the Headlight Restoration Ministry?
David: I hope to make this an annual event and partner with other ministries at Hillside to multiply our "Live on Mission" impact.
Q: How can Hillsiders get involved?
David: Pick up flyers from the church and distribute them during the week—at work, while grocery shopping, at the gym, or anywhere you park you car and have a moment to check nearby headlights! If you lead a ministry and would like to partner with us, please reach out to me here.

Hillside is holding its first Free Headlight Restoration Event on Saturday, October 11! Please share this opportunity with your friends and neighbors, or distribute flyers (available on the Welcome Counter). Participants will sign up for a 45-minute appointment to come to Hillside and have their headlights restored. This will be a great way to share the love of Jesus with our community! Learn more here.
